Ella was friends with Twilight long before the problems arose with the time limit nonsense.
She kept in contact with her friend through online messaging and it was fairly recently that Twilight moved to where Ella was.
She tends to spend quite a bit of time on school assignments, she hopes to find a career in engineering one day.
However her time spent on the schoolwork seemed to significantly decrease when Twilight's writing was released to her old school... Her mental health began to take a decline as she instead was checking her messages and tried to support her friend as best as she could, after all, she did help in reading her stories before they got uploaded. Similarly to her friend, she also took a few days off school to respond to these messages and help Twilight in her hours of need.
Now that Twilight had moved over to the village Ella lived in, she was able to spend more time with her friend and ultimately continued to work on her school work as normal.
When the announcement about the time limits hit, she ultimately spent most of her time engineering and rssearching a strategy as to how this could be mitigated.
